Accommodations: Multiple options with different price points

  • Cottage Rooms or Deluxe Cottage Rooms: These are a set of 6 adjoining rooms each with an en-suite bathrooms and solar showers. I found them to be beautifully decorated. There was also a nice view of the lawn with seating right outside the room at our lodging choice.
  • Garden Tent or Family Garden Tent: We did not see any actually set up while there but the area is nice. There are bathrooms for communal use. Bedding and a towel for showering are included.
  • Deluxe Safari Tent: These canvas tents are very roomy and include an en-suite bathroom and shower in the lodging area.
  • Dorm Beds: For those that may be traveling alone or in a large group, these dorm beds under canvas tents are great. There are bathrooms for communal use. Bedding is included.

We arrived at Wildebeest Eco Camp just outside the city center of Nairobi at around noon. It was lunchtime. Upon arrival, we were shown our tent. I was pleasantly surprised to see how simple and yet tastefully decorated it was with a king bed and twin bed. We even had a bathroom with a shower inside the tent, making it a comfortable choice for lodging!

The camp has many different lodging options depending on your price point. Whether you want to “rough it” in a tent or have a luxury tent stay, there is an option for you! As a family, we were able to rent a luxury tent and add a single bed for our son which fit comfortably in the tent.

Amenities

I loved that each of the options has a nice sitting area. As for amenities, they have a children’s playground, a pool table in an enclosed tent, a large human-sized chess set and a game room complete with a pool table, books and a television at the lodging site.

Food and Beverages

What a surprise! When we pulled up, we were greeted by my cousin! It turns out that she was staying with us while we were there! After settling in, we headed to the restaurant/bar. We shared a mock-tail similar to a piña colada which was delicious. I had a potato and leek soup (delicious!), my son and cousin had a burger and my husband had a sandwich. It was all very good! Tip: One thing to note, Kenyans put mayonnaise on their hamburgers unless you ask for it without.

Overall Impression

Overall, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We asked to have early breakfast as we had several busy days that started at the crack of dawn (or so it seemed!) The grounds of the eco camp were beautiful and very clean. The food was fantastic. I would highly recommend this lodging! Check out this to see our Nairobi itinerary.
