Transformation has always been at the heart of what I do. As a physician assistant specializing in bariatric surgery, I help patients take control of their health, guiding them through one of the most life-changing journeys they’ll ever experience. But in 2024, I found myself on the other side of the equation—not as the provider, but as the patient.
That year, I underwent multiple surgeries, each one testing my resilience in ways I never expected. I had spent my career helping others heal, but suddenly, I was the one who needed time to recover, to regain my strength, and to rediscover myself beyond the challenges I had faced. It was during those difficult months that I realized something: I needed a new way to reconnect with joy, movement, and adventure. That’s when I decided to start my travel blog, She Hits the Road—a space where I could share my love for travel, staying active, and embracing life to the fullest.
Being a mother and a healthcare professional means my days are often packed, but I’ve never let that stop me from doing what I love. Whether it’s an early morning walk before work, a weekend hike with my son and husband, or meticulously planning my next big trip, movement has always been my fuel. Travel isn’t just a getaway for me—it’s a way to recharge, to see the world from new perspectives, and to remind myself that life is meant to be lived fully.
At work, I help people find confidence in their bodies. Through my blog, I hope to encourage others to find confidence in exploring the world. Over time, my little corner of the internet will hopefully grow into a community of fellow healthcare workers, adventure-loving parents, and travelers who, like me, believe that life isn’t just about the work we do—it’s about the moments we create beyond it.
Balancing my career, motherhood, and my passion for travel isn’t always easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Because for me, transformation isn’t just about weight loss or wanderlust. It’s about saying yes—to movement, to adventure, and to living fully, wherever the journey leads.
