Coral Springs is a small city in Broward County, Florida. It has a mix of outdoor amenities, family-friendly activities and shopping and cultural experiences. There is truly something to do for everyone. Our favorite activities were walking at Tall Cypress Natural Area and walking around Sawmill Shopping area. Here are my top 5 activities in Coral Springs to do.
1. Explore the Tall Cypress Natural Area
We found beautiful area by happenstance early on our vacation and found it busy and beautiful. A boardwalk through the woods, covers much of the 66 acres. On either side is wetlands. It’s a perfect area for birdwatching or photography. To watch and/or find the wildlife, the best time to visit in early morning while staying in Coral Springs.

2. Cypress Hammock Park
For my tennis aficionados, this park has 8 fantastic, well-maintained tennis courts. It also has a water slide with a pool and splash pad for those warms days in the summer months. There are basketball courts, racquetball courts, two backboards for practice, and even a walking trail. Surprisingly, they have beautiful restrooms that have showers, making it convenient for extended trips in Coral Springs.
3. The Butterfly Garden
We did not make it here but heard wonderful things about it. Had our son been a bit younger, we definitely would have made the stop. If you’re traveling with kids and want to check out something a little different, then this is the place to go. It contains over 20,000 butterflies and birds. If you’ve visited Coral Springs, I’d love to hear about your experience!
4. Sawmills Shopping Center
Is it a rainy day? If yes, then head to the indoor section of the Sawmills Shopping Mall. it is about a 15-20 minute drive from Coral Springs. They have an indoor mall with a variety of shops but the outdoor area was my preferred section. If it’s a beautiful day but you want to shop, then head to the outdoor section for some serious luxury shopping.
5. Enjoy a Local Culinary Experience
While there are several around Florida, we absolutely loved the food at Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar in Coral Springs. The ambiance was great with lots of people watching while sitting at their outdoor area, fantastic service and I had the best truffle corn avocado toast. Everything on the menu looked delicious.
Final Thoughts
Broward County may not be as famous for travel as nearby Miami or Fort Lauderdale, but it’s a county packed with hidden gems and fun activities, especially in Coral Springs. Whether you’re exploring nature, shopping, or enjoying great food, you’ll find plenty to love about this charming Florida destination. Have you been? If so, please let me know if I’ve missed something fun to do here!
